Asterdale Primary School Derby

 

With 211 pupils, Asterdale Primary School in Derby is considered average in size and its pupils are mainly from White British background with a small minority having English as their second language. Like most primary schools, Asterdale admits children between the ages of 4 and 11 and there is a facility to accept children from birth to 3 years old in the children’s centre next door, however this is not managed by Asterdale Primary school and is inspected separately.

The school also enjoys the status of Activemark and Healthy Schools and has also received an international award from the British Council.

Asterdale Primary School can be found on Borrowash road, just off the A6005 (Nottingham road) in Borrowash, Derby.

·         There is a strong sense of teamwork and mutual support amongst the staff

·         Pupils' personal development is good

·         The quality of teaching is good overall but variable

·         Children enter the nursery with skills that are a little below expectations for their age
