Derby Citizen’s Advice and Law Centre
Your local citizen’s advice centre at Green Lane, Derby, offers you a wide range of services, free of charge. Here are a list of information services they currently offer; Employment, Mental Health, Law, Advice line, Debt, Employment, Housing Family and Relationships, Immigration, Consumer, Welfare Benefits and Outreach Services. If you have to find out anything on these above issues or any other issues, you will find them very helpful and knowledgeable.
Whether you need specific advice or general advice on what your rights are or more information on how to solve a problem, you will be able to find someone to help. Or they will point you in the right direction. The staff at the bureau are all trained to help you and have a lot of experience in these areas.

Drop-in Service
If you are in real need of general advice quickly, the citizen information bureau also offers a regular drop in service. This service is open Monday through Friday between the hours of 9am and 5pm. Just be advised that you might not get seen, arrive as early as you can, you may also have to wait a while.
Making an appointment to see an information advisor
You can call the Derby Citizen’s Advice centre from 9am to 1pm to make an appointment. They are open each weekday, Monday to Friday. As the advice centre is always very busy it is really important that if you can’t make your appointment time, please give them a ring. Latecomers may be disappointed as they might not be seen.

Mental Health
Specialist advice is available from the citizen’s advice and law centre in Derby about mental health. This can be for yourself or a family member. People must qualify though, for legal aid to take advantage of this important service.
Debt
If you are worried about getting into debt, or you are already in debt, contact the advice centre. They can not only advise you how to avoid problems but help you make up a budget plan. Advisors at the Derby centre can also assist by contacting those you owe money to, so you might come to some workable agreement. Just bring along all paperwork you might have, such as bills and demand letters.

Volunteering
Volunteers are basically the backbone of Derby’s citizen advice centre. There are many people doing different jobs and all volunteers are trained thoroughly before working in this important role. Volunteers gain new skills, make new friends, and increase in confidence, but will also see the benefits to the wider community in Derby.
