Derby Festé

Derby Festé is a free two day festival in Derby during the month of September which showcases some great talents from Derby, around the country and also international artists with live performances, film, music, dancing and more. Organised by QUAD, Derby LIVE and Déda, Derby Festé brings a carnival style atmosphere to the city of Derby with exceptional entertainment for all ages to enjoy.

Previous years’ Festé festivals have had performances including acrobatics, fire-breathing dragons walking the streets of Derby, firework displays, live bands and performing arts acts in all manner of different guises to name but a few.

This year Derby Festé 2011 takes place on Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th September.

Events for Derby Festé will include: 

 

 

Derby Feste Parade

  • Sarruga with their interpretation of Derby City Centre as a sea bed filled with luminous fish and creatures of the deep.
  • Walk the Plank who will create a magical Fire Garden
  • 3 Points de Suspension putting on a death defying show of acrobatics
  • Deda in conjunction with Absolute Salsa who will host a fiery open air salsa party
  • The Waterfall Stage – This is an area giving local artists the opportunity to get involved and showcase their talents to a wide audience. The Waterfall stage events will take place on Saturday 24th September 2011.

Derby Feste PerformersFireworks at Derby Festé - Everybody loves a good fireworks display and the attendees of previous years’ festivals have not been disappointed. The fireworks displays at Derby Festé have been a spectacular part of an act’s performance as well as a grand finale to the opening night when they were launched from the roof of QUAD in Derby market place. And this year should not disappoint either – expect to see some awesome displays of pyrotechnic brilliance over the course of the weekend

Performances at Derby Festé will take place at a variety of locations across the city, most of which will be outdoors. These include:

  • Cathedral Green
  • Osnabruck Square
  • Sadler Gate
  • Iron Gate
  • Corn Market
  • Bass' Recreation Ground
  • St Peter's Street
  • Front of Derby Cathedral

The best Derby Festé postcode to use is DE1 3AH which will take you to the Market Place and you will be able to navigate your way around the city from there.

Tickets for Derby Festé – As the Festival is completely free of charge for all, there is no need to purchase tickets. Most of the performances and shows will take place outdoors so it really is a case of just turning up and going to see whatever you like.
