Derbyshire Cricket
Cricket in Derbyshire has been played since around the 18th century although Derbyshire County Cricket Club itself was not formed until about 1870. Today it is played widely around Derbyshire with most Derby suburbs and Derbyshire villages fielding a local cricket team which plays on a Saturday or Sunday throughout the cricket season.
Derbyshire Cricket Club
Derbyshire County Cricket Club to give it its full name, or DCCC for short is based at the County Cricket ground in Derby. The club is one of the 18 clubs which make up the English and Welsh county cricket leagues and currently plays in Division 2 of the county championship as well as the one day league.

Directions to Derbyshire County Cricket Ground:
From the North: From the M1 take junction 28 signposted A38 to Derby. After about 13 miles you should take the first exit at the roundabout to A61 which has a brown cricket sign. After 2 further roundabouts you will reach the Pentagon Roundabout. Just before the Pentagon roundabout turn left into Derbyshire County Cricket Ground.
From the South: From the M1 take junction 25 signposted A52 to Derby. 6 Miles down you will arrive at the Pentagon roundabout. The Derbyshire County Cricket Ground can be found by taking the 4th exit off the island and will have a brown cricket sign.
From the West: From the M6 slip of at Junction 15 (from M6 south) or junction 16 (from M6 north) and follow signs for Uttoxeter A50. Stay on the A50 for about 20 miles until you reach A516 to Derby. Take the A516 to the A38and continue on the A38 until you reach A61 roundabout. Take exit 2 to A61Derby (with brown cricket sign) and carry on over 2 more roundabouts. Just before the 3rd roundabout (Pentagon Island) turn left into Derbyshire County Cricket Ground.

Derbyshire Cricket Club Fixtures
Derbyshire Cricket team 1st XI play about 17 test matches each season usually lasting 4 days and a further 27 or so 1 day fixtures across the season against the rest of the cricket teams that make up the English and Welsh county cricket league. In addition, Derbyshire County Cricket Club’s home ground plays host to a number of 1 day international fixtures within the cricket calendar.

Derbyshire Cricket Teams
The regular team is known as DCCC but there is also a limited overs team known as the Derbyshire Falcons who take part in the one day games and the Friends Life T20 competitions. The kit for the regular DCCC team is white. The Falcons team kit is blue and is worn for all Derbyshire Falcons T20 match fixtures 2012.

Derbyshire Cricket Academy
The Academy at Derbyshire County Cricket Club was set up in 2003 and gives young talented players from Derbyshire the opportunity to grow their skills with professional training from the clubs players and coaches. The aim of DCCC Academy is to bring through home-grown talent into the first teams of the future at Derby. Derbyshire cricket academy training takes place during winter, twice a week as well as each player receiving a personal coaching session once a week. Derbyshire Cricket Board
The Derbyshire Cricket Board, previously the Derbyshire Cricket Association, was formed in 1997 and is responsible for overseeing all areas of Derbyshire recreational cricket. The board works in conjunction with organisations such as the England and Wales Cricket Board and Derbyshire Sport to assist in improving performance, help development of local cricket clubs in Derbyshire and community coaching.
The chairman of Derbyshire Cricket Board is Jon Salisbury and executive manager is Howard Dytham. Other members of Derbyshire Cricket Board include Mike Stones who is chairman of the performance committee, and Mick Glen, the club cricket development officer.
Derbyshire Cricket Leagues
Most cricket teams in Derbyshire play within the Derbyshire Premier and County Cricket League which is broken down into the North Derbyshire league and South Derbyshire league. Within the North and South Derbyshire cricket leagues there are 10 separate divisions which enable most local cricket sides to allow 2nd, 3rd and even 4th XI teams to play competitively.
